What a Professional AC Installation Actually Involves


Creadore Air Conditioning Inc. has been a fully licensed HVAC contractor serving since 1923. We install central air conditioning systems for residential and commercial properties across the region, and after a century in this business, we know the difference between an installation done right and one that causes problems three summers later.



A professional AC installation is not a drop-in job. It starts before any equipment is ordered. We assess the property, evaluate existing ductwork, and calculate the correct system size for the specific space. An undersized unit runs constantly and never achieves comfort. An oversized unit short-cycles, leaves humidity uncontrolled, and accelerates component wear. Sizing accuracy is the single most consequential decision in the whole process.

On installation day, we remove and dispose of the old equipment, run refrigerant lines and electrical connections to code, mount and charge the new unit, and test the system across its full operating range before we leave. We do not consider the job complete until the system is performing at spec and you understand how to operate it.

We work on both new installations and system replacements, including properties where ductwork needs partial repair or modification before a new unit can run efficiently.

Site Assessment

We visit the property and evaluate everything that determines what system will work: ductwork condition, insulation, ceiling height, window area, sun exposure, and existing electrical service. We do not skip this step. A phone estimate without a site visit is not a real estimate.

Manual J Load Calculation

We calculate the exact cooling load your space requires using Manual J methodology, the industry standard for residential and commercial HVAC sizing. This calculation drives every equipment recommendation we make. A system sized to your actual load, not a rule of thumb, performs better and lasts longer.

Equipment Selection and Quote

We present the system options that match your load requirements, budget, and efficiency goals drawn from York, Carrier, and Trane product lines. You receive a written, itemized quote before any work is authorized. No surprises on installation day.

Installation Day

We remove and dispose of the old equipment, run refrigerant lines and electrical connections to code, mount and charge the new condensing unit and air handler, and verify all connections before startup. Work is completed by our own technicians; we do not subcontract installations.

System Test and Sign-Off

Once the system is running, we test it across its full operating range, checking refrigerant charge, airflow, temperature differential, and electrical draw. We walk you through the controls before we leave. The job is not done until the system is confirmed performing as specified.

What Affects the Cost of AC Installation

Several variables determine what a new AC installation costs. We do not publish price ranges because a number without a site assessment attached to it is not useful, and it often does more harm than good when it fails to reflect your specific property. System Size and Efficiency Tier

System size is the primary cost driver. A correctly sized unit for a 1,200-square-foot residence costs less than one engineered for a 4,000-square-foot colonial. Within each size category, the equipment tier you choose, whether entry-level, mid-range, or premium variable-speed, moves the price significantly. Premium systems carry higher upfront costs but lower operating costs year-over-year. We will show you the payback math on any system we recommend.

Ductwork Condition and Electrical Service

Ductwork condition is the variable most homeowners do not anticipate. Older homes, particularly those built before 1970, often have duct systems that leak, restrict airflow, or are sized for equipment that no longer exists. If ductwork needs sealing or partial replacement before a new system can perform efficiently, that work is identified and quoted separately before any installation begins.

Electrical service is the other common factor. Some older properties require a panel upgrade to support modern high-efficiency equipment. We identify this during the site assessment and include it in the quote scope before you commit to anything.
